Never one to shy away from argument, John McDougall, M.D. takes this war to the enemy, challenging the assumptions of the low carbohydrate and paleolithic diet gurus who advise large amounts of animal food and the avoidance of starch at all costs. John provides new evidence that starch granules rather than animal bones are the big finds of modern archaeological digs and that starch, not animals, has always been the basic dietary ingredient of all healthy human and prehistoric populations.
He presents peer- reviewed evidence that during both world wars, European disease rates plummeted as humans stopped eating animals and began eating the animal’s food instead. Also highlighted are the enormous environmental and health costs of present day animal agriculture.
He calls for an end to vegetarian infighting to unite against the challenge of the enormous financial clout of the animal food industry which is always ready to back any new variant of the low carb, high animal food guru.
