Another update on my reaction to antibiotic treatment for Chronic Lyme Disease. I kind of ramble and pause a lot, sorry about that. Wondering if other people have noticed that their reactions get worse at night and 1-2 hours after each dose of abx. Also passing on a tip that chocolate and fruit-flavored stuff helps get rid of the metallic taste plaquenil causes.

This is me accessing my power port for IV antibiotics via central venous catheter. It takes me about 10 minutes. I do it 3 times a week so that when I have it out I can have a decent shower as well as go to the sauna and swim. I am getting treatment for chronic Lyme disease and I am getting better. I wanted to post this video for demonstration to family and friends as well as reassurance to new people diagnosed with a medical problem. I was scared to become a nurse and yet I am doing simple medical procedures such as putting an IV tube in my chest. Such is life. We have more capability then we think. Life is a blessing; live and enjoy.

On Tuesday September 17th 2009, the day of the Wall of Hope event at Queen’s Park in Toronto, a petition was submitted to the Ontario Legislature regarding Lyme and Chronic Lyme disease issues in Ontario. The petition, presented by NDP Health Critic, MPP France Gélinas, addresses issues of failing to acknowledge Lyme as endemic in Canada, inadequate testing, inadequate physician training. Part 1 of this video is of Ms. Gélinas welcoming sevreral Lyme patients and supporters as her guests in the Legislature. Part 2 of this video is of the petition, which was signed by more than 1400 concerned persons from across the province, being read. The Government of Ontario is officially required to respond to this petition within 24 sitting days of the House.
