In Romania, another epidemic country from Europe,a country in which you can find all 3 sub-strains of Borrelia burgdorferi and many another substrains, the situation is the same! There are 3 doctors who wants to treat lyme with long-term antibiotics and high-doses antibiotics, because always the 3 sub-strains of B. burgdorferi are present, and there are a lot of co-infections! Because of this, the disease it is much more horrible, and much chronic!!!
This is happening everywhere in the world, because U.S. is the leading voice in infectious diseases over all the world! Dr. Bozsik Bella Pal from Hungary (the one who proposed the name of the disease in 1985 at the Congress of Viena (the name of the disease which he proposed was accepted at that Congress and remained the same until today: LYME BORRELIOSIS) he was also retired because treating patients with long-term and high-doses antibiotics! It is strange what is happening!
I live in BC and have Lyme. It is now known that southern BC has Lyme zones and I grew up in an Ontario Lyme zone. Trouble is, doctors here don’t know enought aboit Lyme or how to treat it and go by the “Lyme Nazi” Guidelines of the USA. I will be lucky if my doctor prescribes beyond the 30 days of abx I have now. This damn disease might well kill me.

OMG! This is going on in the States, and in Europe, as well. Here, in the U.S. people are going to other states to get treated. In Europe, they’re having to move to other countries to get treated. ???????????
i am no doctor. i am a microbiologist until my retirement. this is a fact given to me by many pharmacologist working for big pharmaceutical companies.
here goes, a bacteria does not care if the antibiotic is IV or Oral. want more please contact me.
Please go and see the patents many of the IDSA/CDC personnel own,
and how they narrowed the disease defination of Lyme to profit
off the sick and dying.

More people need to educate themselves about the truth about Lyme Disease. The IDSA is wrong and they know they are. If you get Lyme…seek a Lyme expert…a Lyme Literate Physician, not ignorant doctors who take the wait and see approach and don’t make a clinical diagnosis or you’ll end up really sick for a very, very, very long time.
Hey guys….PLEASE register at the Oprah Winfrey website and let her know how much you would like to see her do a show on Lyme disease. Dr. Oz thinks the “UNDER OUR SKIN” documentary is wonderful but a show about Lyme won’t be done unless she sees lots of interest. Request that LLMDS and patients be the guests so that we can be heard. Also, Daryl Hall would make a great guest. OPRAH needs to hear about YOUR experience with Lyme disease. WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER !

this is criminal. of course there is lyme in BC; lyme exists in every country, on every continent except antarctica. the lyme controversy has an increasingly devastating human toll. please, please see the documentary film ‘under our skin.’
and yes, it is so true that vets generally know much more about lyme and its potential severity than most MDs. tragic situation indeed.
dr. murakami is a hero. i am appalled at what they did to him, but sadly, unsurprised.

This is such a shame….. my doctor in South Carolina has been through hell just because he treats Lyme patients. Wrote an informative LYME BROCHURE with the help of 2 LYME SPECIALISTS. Great resource info at the end of the brochure. Will email to anyone.

Actually your BEST bet would be to go to Europe if you get an infected tick bite. Tell them you just got it. They would hospitalize you, test you, and treat you and you would be OK again.
The comment about dogs getting better treatment is right on!!! I spoke to a Vet who had tested my dog, and she said if you want to get treated for Lyme your best bet in Canada would be a VET !!! Too bad they can’t do the ‘snap’ test on humans as well, I would gladly be a guinea pig for it, it would be far better than the ‘crap shoot’ ELISA test that we are subjected to here. Not done properly, odds of being found positive here are worse than the lottery !!!
Whose pocket is that BC Infectious Disease Dr in ??? At least in Manitoba our Entomologists admit that there are infected ticks everywhere. 10,000 ticks checked, one infected, what a BOZO!!! I was watching for his nose to grow as he spoke !! They have their heads buried in the sand.
It seems if I get bitten in BC I dont have Lyme. If I get bitten in the USA and come back to BC with Lyme would I get treated? Should I lie about this to get treament??
